ok im pretty sure ive read somewhere that if a silkie has tougher strands of hair on its head then its a roo. Can u tell me what this gorgeous lil silkie is, male or female....This one is phoenix - can always tell as more scruffier ( i like the scruffy look ) lol

pullet. has a pullet look, plus comb/wattles are very small for a bird her age. would have been twice the size if a cockerel.

what you said is true however on this one the sticky bits are grown feathers that have not shed the keratin tube that protects the feathers as they grow. rub them and the fluff will come out.

Not got to grips with the lingo just yet, so the pullet look is like a mo hawk? And I'm so glad it's a female deep down, as I would find it difficult with the crowing

Hum, more like a pouf like hers. Boy crests tend to be more slicked back. Afro vs Elvis hair to use the hair lingo, ha...

The main thing is the black things between her crest and beak is very small. If it were a boy, there would be a much bigger lump(which would be the comb).

Ahhh so thats a comb, i thought comb was the hair/feathers on there head. Gotcha.....lol (btw both are cute x)
