Im not an adult, so I only have $2.50 on me for emergency bus fare. Therefore, the dollar store should let me take things and “pay them back later.” Since they don’t, they’re unprofessional.

My FIL had this happen. They were in Kentucky visiting his mother and he decided to buy my MIL a new diamond for her ring. I'm not sure entirely on the whole story but as he was trying to pay for it it would not go through. Discover called him immediately saying they had detected a fraudulent charge and had shut his card off. He told them it was not fraudulent and they turned the card back on. He had to go to the bank right after because they had shut off his debit card...which is why he was using creditYes I should have mentioned that the bank DID cover the fraudulent activity.
Thing is....and this is important.....
If he HAD actually been traveling and using his card....the shutdown card would have been a lot harder to deal with and no cash would have been extra horrible.
Something folks that NEVER carry cash should think about.
It is important that you let your financial institutions whether bank or credit know if you are travelling. We personally dont travel much. But when we do we take cash and we lock our suitcases or put it in the safe. I've had my identity stolen and the bank shut off my card when they suspected fraud. I almost got stranded in downtown chicago because I could not get cash out of the atm. I had to sit down with a banker and take the late train home. Since then cash is kingWe had a customer who went on vacation to Spain and only took her bank debit card. Well, not suprisingly it got comprimised and had to be turned off. Leaving her in a fix.
She called and we gave her time to get cash from an atm. She then worked out something with family and her credit card company and was able to compleate her vacation and get home safely.
Some folk think it is somehow the banks fault when ther debit card is comprimised, however it is the terminals that you choose to use your card at or the manner of use like internet or telephone. When those terminals are not secure that is when bad people get your card information.
Remember the giant breach Target had a few years ago. There system was not secure and lots of folks had their info stolen. Even in our small town bank we had a couple hundred customers who had to get new cards. Very inconvienent for them.
I only let her owe me because she's family and I know she is good for the money. I just wish she would be more responsible and carry a little cash on her. I know her well so I know when the day comes that she does not have cash and needs it who she will callWell i get it.. its called being facetious, flipant or sarcastic.
And unfortunately i have met some young people who almost believe the world should work that way for them.
Like " ile gladly pay you tuesday for a hamburger today"
Can he hide money in my car? Thats like finding gold in the laundry. Which I did today: 100 dollar TSC gift card from xmasA friend of mine hid $100 in his step-daughters car (he and his wife bought it for her). When she totaled the car, he had to go to the junkyard and retrieve the $100 bill from where he hid it. She was livid to learn that there was $100 in "her" car and he never told her. He never told her because he knows she would have taken it out and spent it. He has $100 bills hid in his truck and in his wife's car also, but she knows that it is for emergency only and doesn't want to know where it is unless she needs it for emergency.
