Bee Space question

So I may have made a mistake with my crafting of my own nuc boxes. And I'm worried about it.

When i was finished with the cuts of the nuc box panel parts, and had gotten most of them together I realized that the frames are a bit tight on the sides.

There isn't much space on the side, but there is bee space on the tops and bottoms and around the frames in other areas, just not the sides.

How bad is this going to be?

It got me thinking that I don't know if people actually state if you need bee space all around the frames in top, bottom, and sides or if you need the sides to have the bee space at all?

What do you think on this?

And it also raises questions also, that even if they can live with it and tolerate it, if it will inhibit the growth of the hive?

It seems like I could get the nuc boxes to work still, just there isn't bee space on every single side of the frames. They would still fit 5 frames each.

But I hope for feedback and confirmation.

And also want to know before I build deeps.

Think of it as their highway.
By side of frame, you mean the long side with frames in it is too tight? Or you worried about the end of the frames distance to the side. If long side is too tight, they will make shallow storage on those sides provided you put them on foundation of some sort.
If it’s frame end to edge of box has zero space, you will need to do it over. Not necessarily because they won’t use it..... it’s because bees use propolis to seal up what they cannot crawl into or through. Your frames will not be removable after a few weeks due to this.

End of the frame distance side only. (Short ends right under where frames hang). The other two long sides are fine.
