Hi... I see you run TB hives. I just got my first and will try TB this year. I need a stand for it so its somewhat waist high. I can ask you for tips maybe on TBs? I have to figure out a good coop to build but not very handy. Maybe my sons can help. I am better building beehive equip. Thanks for the welcome in

Have you visited: www.goldstarhoneybees.com - it's all about TBs' and organic bee keeping. They have plans for top bars, top bars etc. I got the plans for my top bars from biobees.com. I like the TBs' , but I think I'm going to try Warre hives next year. I need to build them first!

Ok - chicken question - a friend told me to skip the cute chick stage and go to the pullets straight away. I am not inclined to follow his directions because I need the 'cute stage'. right?

If you want your chickens to be friendly and come to you when you call, it is much easier when you get them from chicks because they imprint on you (big mama/pappa)! I have 2 birds that were given to me at 12 weeks old and they will not come to call - all my other girls will come and they were raised from chicks. If you are going to cull for meat etc. it's probably better to get older birds since you won't become as attached......
