Can you feed this to chickens?

I saw on the treat list you can give them beets & the greens but what about the shreds with the molasses?

I buy it for the goats but was wondering if I they can share with the chickens?

I can think of no reason why not. I know the beet pulp is often fed to cattle and there are certainly chickens hanging around cattle barns eating the gleanings. Seems to me something would hvae popped up in our knowledgebase by now if there were an issue.

Well I tried soaking the beet pulp in warm water & the chickens didn't really care for it

The beet pulp is what is left after the sugar is removed.

It is important to soak it at least briefly first. The good news is that it can be a good way to get water into an animal along with its feed. I have no experience using it for chickens - just horses.

Beet pulp is a high fiber feedstuff used extensively in dairy cattle feeding as well as in horse feeds. Since it is a high fiber ingredient it is not utilized well in monogastrics like chickens and pigs.

If you are trying to maximize feed intake and energy intake in cold weather I would NOT feed this to chickens as it will reduce the amount of total feed intake.
