I knew they liked meat and I can't believe I didn't think of sardines. For my cat though, I did give it thought 😅 yeah, can't have Yogi showing up!!!

Is it ok? I would love to feed them kale if I could.

Somewhere on the internet I read that chicken shouldn't have kale. Was that a lie?
For eight years ours have been getting Kale we grow in the garden. We even freeze it for them for in the winter, but sometimes we'll buy fresh stuff from the store and rinse it first. These are silkies who are more susceptible to diseases and illnesses than most chickens and they're all healthy as horses!

Are those daily values for a human or a chicken? Without the actual measurements I can't tell, but the daily needs are VERY different in some things.

For example, humans need about 1300 mg of calcium each day, while a laying hen needs about 4-5 grams of calcium (4000 to 5000 mg, so about 4x as much as a person).

Humans need vitamin C in their diet. But I do not see any vitamin C mentioned on this page of poultry nutrient requiremens: https://www.merckvetmanual.com/poul...nal-requirements-of-poultry#Vitamins_v3344215

Also, talking about how many nutrients in " a single cup of raw kale" is different for a person who can eat that cup of kale along with many other things in one day and for a chicken who is more likely to eat a tablespoon or two of the kale rather than the whole cup.

as an adjunct to the last, chickens don't need vit C added; they can make it themselves, unlike us and guinea pigs, but like most animals and most birds.
