Before and After - Today's Supper Menu

Today's menu -

Meatloaf (from my blog - search for it/I cannot link it)
Steamed broccoli
mashed potatoes
gravy
fresh bread (gumpsgirl's recipe )

Bread rising, potatoes peeled, meat loafed.

Bread on second rise.

Bread still rising.

Everything is cooked.

It will be a late night for my DH so - it will be waiting when he gets here.

Is this lunch? Or do you just cook now, and reheat later? The bread looks yummy, may have to try and find that recipe..

Most days when my DH is working late, I cook early, feed the kids, do my barn chores and settle in for a quiet evening by 6 pm.

The kids get their bathes and disappear somewhere upstairs to finish homework, or read, or work on crafts or watch TV together.

I like long quiet evenings.

Today my chimneys are being cleaned and I had to cook early to be out of the way for the kitchen to be done. I hate soot.

That must be nice. I'm lucky to have the family sit down to eat by 7:30, and trying to shove the youngest into bed by 10 or so. Your idea sounds nice, I just can't quite give up the idea of a family meal.

Meatloaf is on of those things I hated as a kid but now love. Yummmm.

i cook early many days and feed the kids so they can bunk in. (our high schooler and jr. high schooler get on the at 6:30 am, so they need sleep!)

love the Silpat. God bless the person who invented it!!! makes baking and cooking a breeze.
