Before or after?
Several days before while waiting for my chick order to arrive, but I didnʻt sign on until the day after they arrived and I had my first question that the farm handbooks didnʻt cover.

Why chickens?
My grandfather survived the Depression in Chicago by keeping a small flock in our backyard. With Depression II - The Sequel on the horizon, I thought that I had better utilize my acreage here in paradise to feed the family more than mangos. Plus I already raised poultry for fun when I lived for 25 years in MIchigan on a 40 acre apple farm.

I found BYC after the chickens.

I don't know what ever caused me not to have chickens. I was raised on a farm where we always had chickens. It took my thirteen year old son begging since he was eight to cure me of my chickenless insanity.

When I got my first Show Chickens the only computer being used was the one owned by the Manahattan Project. What we are doing now with the BYC, and the rest of the communications techpology available was inconceivable to most. Therefore I must conclude I had Chickens before BYC.
