Beginner LF Cochin Breeder

Hello and :welcome
I have some little thoughts. You can read them if you want :)

I think your black pullet will do very well at improving the cockerel. She is more round than him. The Blue would be good when crossed back to a son from the black x black generation.

I certainly think the black girl is the best example of the breed out of the three. I did go and trim feathers off of the rooster due to some hygiene issues / he wouldn’t be shown at the moment. Is the goal with Cochins to make them look round?

Yes, that is the goal :)
Ideally, you want to create what could be described as a feathered "basketball"

The head should be pulled back and parallel with the top of the tail. The curves of the head/neck, tail, and cushion should create a uniform curved circle.

I’m hoping the blue hen fills out more once she reaches the same age as the black. Very helpful! Thank you . Do you raise Cochins?

She looks like she should fill out more. Birds are best to be judged after their first year; once they have their adult plumage.

I used to raise Cochins :) I had two bantam whites, one cockerel and one pullet. I'm looking to get back into them when I get more space.

How do I help manage the poop from sticking to the feathers? They are in a very clean environment but it tends to get dirty near the vent
