Beginner Needs Help! I was told its a girl but is it??

2 weeks old
Okay! So since they are probably just mixes of some sort, and very young, I would base it mostly on the comb size/color right now. When you go there, take the two with the teeniest, least red combs that you can find. But beware, if they have a different comb type, like a pea comb, they will look smaller than a straight comb. Maybe look at some pics of 2-3 week old chicks and study their combs before you go to choose your new chicks. It’s not a guarantee that you’ll end up with girls, but it might be your best option right now.

This is so so helpful thank you so much!

Here are some pics of babies with walnut and pea combs (and black skin, which makes it hard because they don’t turn red early if they are boys.) I was wrong on my early guesses for a few of them like Joy and Goldie. But if you look at a few of the girls with their tiny combs (Figgy, Frenchie) then maybe you can kind of get a feel for what you’re looking for.

I would just take the two in the group with the smallest, narrowest looking combs and hope for the best!

You’re welcome! I hope that you are able to get some girls - I know it is so disappointing to have chicks that you think are girls start changing into boys 😅

If you have any other questions just ask, and please come back and update after you get your new chicks!!

Yeah it's super hard since I can't have roos 😭 not just that I have started a YouTube and tiktok documenting their growth and they are getting popular...so that's tough 😅
