Im in the process of making a homemade incubator.. and was curious what breed of ducks or chickens is easiest to hatch? id rather do ducks but would rather do something easy for first time, and for whatever breed thats easy, any info on them? How many times do I have to turn the eggs a day? how long apart should I turn them? how many days will it take to hatch and what day should I stop turning them? Thanks!

read through the stickies in the Incubating and Hatching section, will give you ALOT of starting advice.

And for breeds, as far as I know they're pretty similar in care, but other people will have different opinions. I thought all eggs were the same to hatch (although people will say that banties are different being so small)

You realise with hatching your own eggs you will have to deal with about 20times as many roosters as you actually want/the flock can handle?

Yeah I know, im just interested in trying to do some on my own and to add to my flock, probly keep most females and a couple males and find homes for the rest

For some reason, for me, mixed eggs seem hardier and easier to hatch, you might want to try that first.

An experienced hatcher recommended white eggs for my first hatch. Not that they were hardier but because they were easier to candle - less guessing.

I would pass that advice along. I'm very new to hatching and I was glad I did the light eggs the first go-round.
