Beginner's Hatch-A-Long

Vtguania good to know that I dont have to risk my peas due a week after my ckn eggs to let my ckn eggs hatch....so ill update next week n c if my ckns hatch o.k. In turners....did u up humidity for the ckn to hatch or just left humidity alone?

Angelak I couldn't get my humidity above 66% (it's from 54-61 now). It was around high 50's when I noticed the shell a bit cracked. My temp was @ 102 (still air incubator). I didn't know if putting the eggs in a week after would work or not but figured it's worth a try. I'll let you know next weekend when the second batch is to hatch. So far no other sign of any of the first batch looking like their peeping.

vTguania thanks for sharing your info.with me,my incubator gas been staying 30%-45% but gonna try n get humidity higher this next week bc chicks r due then following week peas r do,just really hoping peas make it to hatch n r healthy

Angelak wish you luck with both hatches. I'm currently building a freezer-bator from an old freezer I had laying around. Hopefully it will be a lot better than the little giant I'm currently using, plus I need to get better at incubating. I candled my eggs various times but didn't really pay any attention to air sac, blood vessels or any of that.

Angelak the rest of the eggs from this batch where no good. 1 was really bad the rest just runny. I still have the 2 dozen Mahogany due to hatch next weekend so we will see. Seems like atleast half look like they will hatch. This little fellow can sure chirp up a storm, must be lonely but hopefully he will have some company soon enough.

baseballchick it's really exciting to know that chicks are forming,
