Is this a concern? If so, how can I fix this? And is this what they call pasty butt?

You do need to clean that off as more poop can cling to it and block the vent causing poop to back up, constipating the chick.

I like to use a wet warm cotton ball dabbed on the poop crust until it softens. Then wet a clean cotton ball and dab and blot until it comes off the butt fluff. Under no circustances should you rub or scrub as that can inflame fragile tissues.

Yes that’s pasty butt😬

I actually had to help my chick with this yesterday.
What I did was I placed the chick’s bum under the faucet, letting a small stream of warm water run over the chick’s bum. I then took some paper towel and lightly and gently wiped the bum of the chick.
Just make sure to do it lightly, and take your time, because the dried poo will hurt the chick🙂
