I gave away my alpha hen a few weeks ago. She hadn't laid any eggs for months. I don't have roosters. I know sometimes another hen will take her place. My 12 month old Welsummer that laid the darkest eggs stopped laying shortly after that. She is not molting. Yesterday I noticed her standing tall kind of like my old alpha hen did. I am worried she might stop laying entirely and would like to break her of being the "rooster". Any ideas?
