Behavioral issues, bullying

I tried to see if anyone would split and order but guineas are not real popular around here. Everyone hunts and they think they warn the animals whenever the hunters are around. The other misbelief is they breed like wildfire so you’ll have 200 after one season. Many just hate the noise they make in general. I love these guys, I can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t welcome them with open arms!

I bought less than 25 but I had to call them. If you call them they might have some older birds for sale.
No, they have nothing but keets and they will not send them in quantities less than 25. They did say they could send as few as 5 during the summer months of June through August but that doesn't solve my issue right now. Argh!

yea, it is a tough time of year to be looking for new stock. When they sent me ten there was a big chemical warmer in there with them. Like a hot hands only really big, and they included an extra keet in case on died. Not sure what your plan B will be but this cold weather should slow any aggressive behavior down.

End result of all the searching was a farmer who wanted to sell me his 6 guineas who had been living in an exposed crate outside AND give me the old hen who raised them AND give me a club-footed senior guinea (who I probably would have loved way too much for my sanity). There was no way to combine these groups safely so I have opted to move the original four into a bigger coop and, hopefully, Gracie will have a far happier life once the guys realize she is the only lady who will be happening in their lives. ;) They get along slightly better since I removed their broody hen to another coop and they will now let Gracie sit outside with them when it’s warm enough. I am going to hope we increase the flock in a “natural” way and at least a few keets will make it from Gracie’s spring efforts. Thanks to everyone for their great advice.

Best of luck with Gracie and your flock!

Has she somehow taken top bird?? Maybe she is the one that needs removed for awhile. She might do better with chickens after being lonely for a minute. If I was boss of a flock of wild like birdsI might be pissy over getting moved somewhere new too.
I cured a bullying hen by isolating her from the flock. She wasn’t entirely alone, she was with two silkies whom she completely ignored (I honestly don’t think she recognized them as chickens.) When I put her back with the flock, the pecking order had changed and she wasn’t able to push folks around. Isolation with her worked. IMHO the hen needs to be removed.
