Bella lost her mate on Sunday, her sister on Monday (those I refer to as the twins, always together).
I can't say what she did on Monday, bc I let her free range. But I have kept her in since, and she hasn't laid an egg yesterday or today.
I don't feel anything externally..I think we'd both need sedatives to do an internal, she fought me just touching her. But she's not lethargic by any means. She's irate to be locked up. She's getting oscal and brassica leaves, has water and food.
I'm reading in the threads that additions to coop can throw them off,I'm assuming any coop dynamic change (ie loss) wld do the same? How long do I assume this before worrying-and where do I get a guinea straight jacket in order to check internally?

Guinea straight jackets are usually referred to as soft bath towels that are used to wrap them for inspections.

Yep, that's how I managed the external w/o losing my nose. Anyway, went back out w/soft fluffy towel. There's no egg in there.
There was a bit of mucus streak with yellow?

Hi Sydney, I was wondering how you and your birds are doing! Poor Bella. I’ve had a few lose their mates and flockmates, and it really upset them. My flock was nervous and on edge for several weeks afterwards. I would think that the stress could also affect egg laying, since stress in general will reduce chicken egg laying… I hope Bella feels more secure soon!!!

Thank you, it's reassuring to hear that from you, bc it's impossible not to 2nd guess myself after last week. She's not swollen or red, there wasn't an egg in there and her belly is soft. Neither of you seem alarmed by the mucous so I take that as normal, clear w/ a bit of streaked yellow?

Update:you were right!:ya:wee
It's easy to tell Bella & Rosie's eggs apart bc Rosie's are brown and Bella's are off-white. There is now a brown nest and a white nest. Well..there was until this a.m. .it appears Rosie did a head count & decided to drop one of hers in Bella's. Lol. Mb she's trying to coax her toward the one nest method.
We found 7 of what would be Bella & Blue's under a bush. We've put them in the incubator but have warned the gran that it's most likely a learning experience/practice & not to get his hopes up.
It would be awesome to have one come on w/some of Blue's genetics. The Crazy Guinea Lady notices- it's a lot quieter out there. PJ murmurs good morning, but only once. If you miss it, too bad. Blue wld start shrieking it until I responded. Lol

Holding a guinea can be dangerously sedative. With Blue,I cld doze off. This one, bad idea. We're just hanging out rocking. 20210710_130706.jpg She decided to cross the road this a.m. and an F150 decided to speed up, I looked outside and it looked like a pillow factory had exploded.
She must have rolled, she got up and walked back to the coop and only injury is

When I checked on her she was still cowerig in corner though no one else is in there so I brought her thought. Thought we'd just sit & chill forvawhile, make sure she doesnt go in shick, and then clean her up w/veterycin. Am I to remove broken quills or do they dislodge on their own?
Ps doesnt seem in shock, no paleness, responding appropriately.

Oh poor baby!!! I hope she will be ok, internal injuries are possible. I put whatever (like Veterycin) you have for wounds on that scrape amd I wouldn’t pull quills unless they are bleeding through the feather shaft.
