Below 0 temps.

I let mine choose too.
Although, I did close their door early yesterday. It was so very cold with the wind blowing right in the door(man door). They didn’t come outside at all yesterday, so they got their food scraps in the coop too.
Like others said, be sure they have water that won’t freeze and plenty of food.
My flocks always have food and water 24/7 in their coops.

-1 F this morning when I opened one of the coops. They came running into the run. Of course I've got it blocked off three sides and hay down. Here's a photo of this morning, tried to take photos for something else but the camera turned off due to the cold. And half of them are single comb birds too.

Mine get the choice, unless the wind is howling as my run is not protected from wind and snow.

The water doesn't need to be 'not cold', just needs to be liquid.
Mine eat snow all the time.

Huh?
What I meant by that is it shouldn’t be ice cold, because it has a higher chance of freezing.

I'll add my photo, all single combed birds. It was 4* above zero Fahrenheit when I took this. I leave the pop door open and let them decide. If a cold wind is blowing they are not going to be out in it, but as the weather was calm they came out to enjoy the morning.

I'll include this photo also. When my chickens wake up to a strange white world they do not go out in it for a few days. They don't like the change. But these were already out when it started snowing. The change was gradual enough that they never got scared. It's not snow that they hate, it's the change.
