We love bento boxes. When my daughter started 12 hour ER shifts we bought a smallish bento picnic set. It has room for her meal, a snack and drinks. Love it!

I read the whole thread and still cannot figure out what a bento box is. Is it a new lunch box type thing or what?

Bento is Japanese for a single portion meal. A bento box is is a box with lots of little other boxes and compartsments to optimally pack that meal without everything running together and being gross and soggy etc.

The traditional bento box in japan is a black laquered box that is just as much a feast for the eyes as the food is for the mouth.

Lots of different lunchboxes and food containers are made similar to the bento box.

Sterling: That chicken themed box is so cute I could just die!!!! My husband says that its this big production at work each day when he opens his lunch. Everybody has to have a look and try to nab a blueberry or something...
