What is the best piece of advice you have read or been given about chicken breeding?

Mine, as a new chicken owner I read lots and lots... And the one thing that made me thing OMG what a fantastic idea, was using a red light to get the chicks to drink from a nipple
And even better I have a red torch that I use to play with the cats with

I read that when it is your first time attempting to breed a breed that is new to you, it is best to work on getting the correct body type first, then to focus on color once body type has been achieved.
