Best backyard breeds

What kinds of chickens do you have and are any of them small breeds? Do the cats ever attack your chickens? We keep setting out traps baited with cat food and only catch opossums

We did catch the cat once when we were trying to catch gophers. But just let him go. We moved later though. In our new neighborhood, there are no cats, only bobcats. We have 9 Easter Eggers, 2 comets, 2 golden laced Wyandotte’s, and 1 leghorn. This year I wanted Marans and a few more leghorns. We lost one leghorn to a hawk last year.

Maribel is beautiful! Did you have a good experience with McMurray? We ordered 15 and all were healthy but one and all were sexed correctly as female. Customer service was also very good.

I had a great experience! I only got 3 but they arrived in 2 days healthy and happy! They even sent me a catalog this year that gave me the itch

Lol... that McMurray catalog! My daughters and I call it "chicken porn." It's absolutely beautiful and we periodically read it to dream of our future chickendom. Unfortunately, I haven't found that McM carries many of the breeds they advertise and it looks like they're not offering much selection this spring and summer
