Best Bantam Leg Bands?

Hello again everyone, once I start breeding Nankin Bantams I want to keep them banded for shows and easy genetic ID. Like little numbered metal ones is what I want. So what kind do all of you use?

Are you a member of the ABA (American Bantam Association)? They sell leg bands that are color coded by year, and also are numbered. They go on when the chick is younger, then the chicks grows more and they will never come off, unless you cut them off.

Even if you're not a member, you can purchase their leg bands, but they do give a discount for members, so you may want to join up if you haven't, especially if you plan to breed and show.

Thank you! I'm going to get there previous year ones, I can get them for half the normal non member price. Year doesn't matter to me, only number. So my next question is, how do put them on when they are chicks without them falling off? Thanks!

Wait until they are old enough, like 4 weeks old. It depends upon the breed for how old. You need to put them on when the legs are small enough to fit but the feet big enough that they don't fall off. Very tricky.

Sorry to jump on this thread, but it is at least band related. Can anyone tell me what color the 2020 band was? A friend has a 2020 from before starting with the ABA bands and would like to color band her for ease of quick determination. Thank you!
