Best bedding for Adult ducks?

I use straw, I dont see a point in using shavings because they dont fluff it up like chickens do anyways. It just gets matted down, straw is cheaper here

I was using pine shavings too but I'm thinking pine pellets would work really good for watery duck poop. I'm using them for the chickens and rabbit. I'm thinking if and when we get more ducks I'll try the pellets.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! I have them in my brooder, my Serama cage, and rabbit cage. But I've also used them to litter train puppies and as cat litter. I have 4 chickens in my familyroom and there is no smell. I wished I had thought to try them before I got rid of my ducks. They're packaged in 50lbs bags for horses so they're absorbent! The wet spots just turn to sawdust. The chicks love to dustbathe in it when the waterbottle leaks. And I've never had it get moldy.

Wow. Well I just bought more shavings, but once these bags run out, I'll try the pellets. Is the dust OK for the ducks? Mind you we have no water in their house at all, but they can be wet themselves...what do I mean can be....those wet muddy feet from playing in the puddles.....messy, messy, messy

They really don't make dust. Even the sawdust that is left once they've absorbed water is coarse. So it's perfectly safe! Good luck. Let us know how you like them for ducks!

I'm useing wood shavings and they work a ton better than the straw

ETA: The straw woulkd get wet and soggy and smell real bad after a week

would chicks or ducklings eat the pellets after they turn to saw dust you think? I am going for more shavings tomorrow and would like to check this out also thats the only thing I would be worried avbout is it being fine enough that they may eat it.

Mine pick at the sawdust but it says on the bag that its safe if ingested and I haven't had any trouble. They eat rocks, I can't imagine it would be worse than that, and those are good for them.
