Best book?

Books are over rated and out dated.
BYC is all you need.
There's more info here then in a library of poultry books and unlike books that are usually one sided BYC will give you many different opinions and approaches to situations so you can find what fits you're needs.
Can't ask books questions or for more info either.

I've always liked the 'for dummies' books, and the Chickens for Dummies is actually endorsed by the mods of this site.
BYC is Chock full of great information, and great sources too!

Welcome to BYC @RESQME49 !
Moonshiner hit the nail on the head, dead on, as usual.
There's a ton of chicken books out there, making money by marketing to the backyard chicken movement and most are not worth the paper they are printed on, some have some serious misinformation.

I took a bunch out from the library, very glad I didn't waste money on them.
My advice is to read here, a lot, sort the wheat from the chaff,
take notes and copy links for future reference.
I use both a Word doc and a spreadsheet file to save information. Using headings like coops, nests, feed, roosts, etc will help you sort/search it out later....and you can always revise your 'book' as you learn more.
