Best brand of chick starter?

Just wondering what brand of chick starter would be a good choice for raising up my babies. I've used Purina Start n' Grow in the past (which is 18% protien), but the lady I bought this batch of chicks had them on DuMor Chick starter 20%. I've used Purina Layena once they get old enough so would it matter to keep them on the same brand or do you have other recommendations for a different laying feed as well?

Ive been using the 20% Dumor for the past 2 years. So far I am very pleased. The chicks do great on it. Ive also been raising the ducks on it. I also feed it to my breeders since the layers around here are 16%, with some other things added.

My personal preferance would be the Purina. I switched mine to it from Dumor, and I love the differance in my birds.

What ever is cheapest. Since I free range they get plenty of what they need. I do notice my chicks took right off after I let them out.

Unfortunately Purina 18% is a compromise for chicks, IMHO. 18% is not enough to start chicks out on. I ditched the Purina which also had a bunch of green pellets in it and went for 20% at my local feed mill. Dumor is good, but if you want medicated it is not. You could just keep Amprol around in case of coccidosis, however and Dumor will be fine.

I've used nothing but Purina Start & Grow for years and it has always worked well for me.

Edited to add: That's for laying chicks. Meat birds, turkeys and others I'd use a gamebird starter.

my 50 lb bag of dumor starter says 24% on it. i didn't really pay attention to see if TSC had a 20%, i just grabbed what looked like a bigger version of the previous bag. is 24% too much for 6 week olds? they are outside in the coop all night and also getting a bit of cracked corn and whatever else they find in the run.

I have to say so far I like the Nature Wise starter 20% with Amprolium from Nutrena.
