best brand of chicken feed?

I like Purina, use it for my dogs, horses etc, however I also had 2 chickens with crops stuffed full of dirt and gravel. I switched to Homegrown Layer brand, (which soemone told me was made by purina, don't know if thats true) that has animal protein in it and have had no more problems. Coincidence? I did have to dispatch the chicks as I was not able to clear out the crops so not sure if food change would have helped them or if possibly they were being kept from food by others?

There is another current posting for H&H soy free food.

I checked out their website and was impressed with the ingredients list. No SOY No GMO's

They add a fish meal for their protein source.

Visit their website, they are offering free samples in the mail.

Funny you should say that. All the ones I had that "died" from starvation -my theory was that the others kept them from the food. Until I separated them, and they didn't eat either. Even separated with a hungary buddy!

I've read people discussing pros and cons of purina, what about nutrena, is it the same way or is it okay to use?

I feed my layers layena I have not had any problems. I feed my show birds Mazuri gamebird breeder kibbles it has fish meal. I have had many judges comment on the feather condition. out NPIP is done by a vet he was very impressed with the birds condition.

My local garden supply store has Buckeye feed. I was wondering about it, but didn't buy it. I've been feeding Dumor which from reading I understand is junk. I checked out the link you provided to Buckeye, but I don't really know which option to go with. My straight run chicks are about 9 weeks or so. Any advice on what to give them? If Buckeye is actually a good feed I'd like to move away from the Dumor. Also.... any idea if any of the Buckeye feeds are organic?

Any others have experience/advice on Buckeye brand?

Thanks!

I use Dumor feed? Is that any good? This is my first time having chicks, and now I am worried I have a feed that isn't good
