Best breed for dark meat?

A friend of mine says she scalds ducks in near boiling water! She said that's the key to loosening the feathers. Other folks have said to add a bit of dish soap to the scalding water. I plan to try boiling water with dish soap. THe worst that will happen is I ruin the skin, and if I can't pluck it, I'm skinning it anyway!

I've never done it, but aren't you supposed to be able to dip them in wax, and then peel off the wax with the feathers?

If you lived near me, I would GIVE you a few dozen duck eggs to incubate or to put under any broody bird you have over there.
Where do you live in Louisiana KG? I live on the Sabine River and could throw a rock across and hit Louisiana. I currently have fawnrunner/mallard crosses. They lay eggs great, but have only once tried to nest. I've been feeling drawn towards Muscovies because I would love to eat them, and have hens to raise my other eggs. Luckily I have two duck runs and can separate my layers from the growers.

It won't ruin that beautiful golden skin. Just a little soap to cut the waterproofing. Then a light singeing.

Thanks for the warning--when we get ducks I'll not do that.

Cayuga ducks. They are melanistic so their skin is very dark and this seems to have an impact on their flesh which is almost b`lack. also they only take about 6 weeks to be table ready
