I also asked the same question and was told RIR and Reich's reds (SP). So I got 8 of each!!!

My 5 laying Golden Comets seldom miss laying an egg a day, even in this extreme heat. & they are sweet girls...

They tell me around my neck of the woods RIR. Personally i dont know yet cause my RIR are 14 wks but when they start laying I will report back.

My choice for best egg layer is white leghorn for white eggs, and my RIR?RSL crossbreeds for brown eggs. You also have to consider how long a breed will lay before egg production drops sharply (2 years for most heavy layers). If you want a few less eggs and longer production, you should choose another breed.

I have a Red Sexlink that lays daily - has since she started at 17wks old. Even through the heat. My first one to lay was an Amberlink at 15wks and she's only missed a handful of days in the last 7wks.

My Australorps haven't begun to lay, but I am hoping they give these hybrids a run for their money. A BA hold the record for the most eggs laid in a year. I am hoping to cross my BA roo with my Delaware pullets later on to see what I get from them.

I am hoping some jumbo egg laying machines!

I like my red sex link and EEs.They laid all winter in a cold darkish shed. They are tolerating this heat well too.
