I have Easter Eggers, Barred Rocks, RIR's & SLW's.

I vote for the EE's. They are by far the quietest.

My Barred Rocks are constant talkers but they make up for the noise with their interesting personalities.

I would not get SLW's again. They are loud and kind of mean.

I vote for EE as well. I have EE, SLW, GLW, and BA. Out of all of them the EE are the only ones that just let my kids carry them around without any trouble. They are flighty to a point but not crazy (hense my toddlers can catch and carry them around) plus they are not near as big as my BA. I would stay away from BA actualy if you want quiet. They are GREAT layers but man oh man they are loud. Mine chatter and cluck all day and are loud. They are sweet to the kids and people but are just loud. So since noise level is a concern I would choose EE.

My SF was very quiet, friendly and supposed to be good layer. My GLW's are good winter layers, one is a bit louder but not bad. My EE and BR are quiet. My EE is the least friendly though. Docile but more shy

When I first started keeping chickens I got EE's and I HATED THEM! they were flighty and loud, no fun at all. My hatchery buff orpingtons were VERY noisy but my Black orpingtons from breeders were quiet and quite nice.

I count most suburbs as the city when it comes to chickens. Around here, the suburbs all have pretty tiny lots, most houses within 30 miles of us are on lots 6000 sq. feet or less. 1/10 of an acre is typical.

Do they Faverolles lay pretty good?

Well, if there are no more votes, it looks like I will suggest to the neighbor to maybe try Easter Egger, Orpington, and Salmon Faverolle.

Anyone one else what to vote or comment?

I pick EE! I have 3 of them and a buff orpington. I will not get BO again....... she is EXTREMELY noisy. She lays a beautiful pink egg and has my neighbors asking if I have a rooster.
I love the EE they lay well, even this winter. Quite friendly and personable........... Love them
