BEST BROWN EGG LAYERS

Nhrs are aggressive towards other birds.
no they aren't, the fact that you have some you consider aggressive doesn't mean the breed as a whole is aggressive, I haven't had issues not even with the roosters nor had the previous poster nor had many people in countless other posts on this forum. Maybe the birds you have had came from a hatchery with a bad behaving line in that breed, you can argue all you want, you aren't going to convince people who own the breed without issue that they are an aggressive breed.

Maybe it was the RIR,but mines are pretty mean.
I have heard that so-called Production Red males are sometimes overly aggressive.....And, as I said previously, NH males I had were territorial and competitive, especially with each other but certainly not overly aggressive....The females were very friendly, non-aggressive and easy going...NH's are almost perfect chickens.....Would be nice if more breeders kept them and tried to rebuild their amazing productivity and beauty......Good luck and Thanks for sharing your thoughts..

that would be more likely especially considering rir nowadays are generally production reds anyways which do have a reputation for being a more aggressive bird, they also have the rusty red color like a nh rather than the deep dark red of the heritage rir

5,000? The facilities and man hours required to accommodate 5,000 hens is staggering. Even if you are using battery methods which no one on earth should use you are talking about massive facilities and many employees. Without automation you would spend all day feeding, watering, cleaning and playing doctor, you wouldn't have any time to sell the eggs. But 300 that's doable as a one person operation but as you stated you would be operating in the negative at 300.

Good luck to you.

I forgot when i posted this but it was a long time ago. And they would not be in battery cages. However, when I did my research 1 man can take care of 2500 chickens. This is with my yarded system where they are in a huge yard and they have covers around the yard. Probably with 6 yards for rotation. plus then i have my dad

But again this is when i wanted them as a job, now i have lots of sheep. though they will be a hobby. and maybe latter it will be
