Best/cheapest way to keep the chickens in the pen.

I have a 4' high chicken wire pen, two of my new hens have gone over the wall. How do I keep them from flying out of the pen?

Will cutting thier flight feathers do it?

try cutting them on one wing first.
if it doesnt work, id maybe put a top over the cage

I was wondering if fishing line strung across would work.

Our chickens used to be able to fly up six feet even with one wing clipped. Maybe we didn't do it properly, but I'd say your best bet is covering the top.

Go to home depot and get this yellow mesh 25 bucks a roll and it goes a long wasy. Look at my pics and you can see it in one of the photos

We cover our pens with black netting . If you don't have any and want them to stay in right now , clipping the flight feathers on one wing should work just fine.

I clipped their wings and will pick up some netting this weekend.
