Best Chicken Breeds for Pesky Neighbors?

Yes, @cherrynberry, that would be my plan B, giving eggs to neighbors in exchange for peace. ;) So if there are quiet, good layers... yes that's what I'm looking into, good layers, quiet hens. I think Cochins are pretty good layers if what I've read is accurate... not quite sure though. Haven't read about Brahmas yet, going to do that right now.
Brahmas and Cochins are both broody breeds. Once broody, they will cease laying for a few weeks, if not broken early enough.

Trellises and vines. Lots of vines. Recommend grape, hops, Passion flower, sweet potato, peas, beans, ipomea alba, vigna Caracalla, climbing roses. The second layer with the bamboo-I plant sunflowers and squashes… that’s what I’ve got planted and depending on the season, they are completely hidden from late spring to first frost. And easily 3/4 hidden the other 60 days. I’m in the high desert of SoCal, so have basically a 300 day growing season. It’s 78° here today.

I did it mostly for shade. And because I only have about 1000 sq feet before my hills start & neighbors are pretty close, I wanted to make it very lush. Tore out the rest of the lawn so all my water $ goes to the fence/garden. But it’s turned out pretty cool. Even my mom likes it 😉.

You left out your orchard/garden area… but YES! Exactly! I was picturing basically an open lawn, lol.

Good luck. Most neighbors are okay & chill. Oh, and gotta second the polish recommendations. Our two are really cool. Muppet chickens. I should’ve gotten 4.

I would actually not recommend polish. Mine are the loudest of all of my chickens. They are soooo loud! Make it sound like we aren’t feeding them or something. They are also high maintenance if they are in with non-crested chickens. They are super sweet and are actually my most favorite breed, but they are LOUD.
It could be that mine are so quiet because I’ve got Carla-the mouth of the west. 🤷‍♀️

It’s all relative and individual. It’s why I haven’t gotten rid of her. I’m sure another one would just fill in the void.

Noise level will be very individual to the bird, not just the breed. That being said, of the breeds I have, the Polish/Polish crosses, EE and leghorn mixes are the quietest. Marans are loud after they have laid an egg. Silkies are very loud considering their small size. My one bantam cochin is pretty noisy too.
Another plug for Polish, they are very good layers and mine have never been broody.😊
Definitely will look into them!!
