Does anyone know of any good metal chicken waterers that won’t rust. I’ve used the same type of metal chicken water every year for like the past six years, and I’m tired of having to replace it due to the rust.

I’m waiting fir some drip feeder water outlets to arrive. Not sure if they will work as promoted. I like the idea of not having to clean a water feeder daily.

My parents use an inverted galvanised rubbish bin lid with a water timer filling and flushing it daily.

I have five and am very happy with a stainless steel ice bucket. It is vacuum sealed, double walled, and holds 3 quarts. I raise it up on cement blocks to about their back level and they rarely get more than the occasional leaf in it (I bed with maple leaves). It stayed cool in the summer and takes a long time to freeze at below freezing temperatures (mid twenties, mostly, so far. Some low twenties and teens).

Ya I have the same thing but we have a sparrow problem and there waterer gets so nasty so quickly so I was looking for something that the sparrows couldn’t drink out of that wouldn’t rust and could still be on a heater.

Welcome to BYC.

You might want to try a horizontal nipple waterer.

There are a number of heated bases that are safe for plastic waterers -- which lets you make your own waterer by buying the nipples (I use these: https://www.amazon.com/RentACoop-Pa...41064690&sprefix=horizontal+ni,aps,553&sr=8-2), and using your own bucket.

Or you can buy one ready to use: https://www.premier1supplies.com/p/heated-poultry-waterer?cat_id=141

I didn't find it difficult to train the chickens to use the nipples.

How did you train them to use it?
