best choice for dual purpose breed?

i now have a dozen new hampshire hens, free range. intend to increase flock for meat and eggs, looking for reccomendations, is there a better choice for texas heat? thanks.

I don't know about Texas heat but a good all purpose chicken is the barred rock

Barred rocks are good, so are delawares. Your new hamps would do great too. You could get some delawares and cross them with your hamps. This cross produces great DPs. Put a new hamp rooster over Delaware hens and the chicks will be sex linked. Good luck whatever you do.
