Best egg laying duck breeds?

I think I'm going to go with the golden 300. They can be sexed by color after they hatch but the feed store only offers unsexed ducks. I will try to find them somewhere else or I will ask the feed store if its possible for them to order them sexed. Other wise I will order them and try to sell/ give away the drakes. Are drake's hard to give away?

In many areas drakes can be hard to get rid of. You could also order directly from a hatchery instead of a feed store. Many breed can be bought sexed by the hatchery but not from feed stores

Ok I'll look into it I just don't want to have the ducklings go through the shipping process especially with all the post office stuff going on if they ship through the post office. If the hardware store can't order them sexed I might just have to order chickens instead. Lol I do this every year, I want some other sort of foul but end up getting chicks.

Unless your store has a local hatchery or breeder they might be shipped into the store still as that is how most feed stores get their birds. Just some food for thought

Yes I understand this, for some reason I thought the shipping to the store would be done differently than shipping to your house. Its probably the same. I will start looking at some online places to order them from.

I work in a feed store - it's the same. Actually I was on the register the other day and the postal person literally showed up with a box of turkeys, set them down next to my register, indicated at them to me, and then walked off.

I was like, uhhhh....thanks? I had to call someone up to come get them and get them settled. It was the weirdest thing. We usually have to go pick them up, but that day, nope, here's a random box of turkeys, good luck.

Actually two of those are downstairs in my brooder right now, haha. I take home all the weak ones to attempt to save them. I was successful that time :)

Ok thanks for letting me know, I will just order them online then.
