I'm not finding the chicks I want in my area so I thought I would try ordering some eggs and hatching them. What are ya'lls opinions in small incubators? What's the best brand/type? Any tips and tricks for a first time hatcher?

i use an little giant. it's the only one i have had and judging by reviews i have just gotten lucky. most people hate them. i have used it sucessfully three times hatching at 75% or better. instructions ae hte key and patience if you use a little giant incubator. good luck.

I use a Brinsea Mini-Advanced and love it. You pretty much set it and forget it. Very stable temps and I have hatched 80% and up with it. I also have a Hova-bator and my own homemade mini fridge but I have to admit the Brinsea is ol' Mr. Reliable.

I also use a little giant. I am on lockdown and on my first hatch. It is working very very well!! There are very stable temps. The only problem I have rigth now is when I tried to raise the humidity between 70-80% it was kinda difficult. But I did get it. It Is now staying there!! So I am very pleased with it and I think it would work very good for you!

TO RAISE MY HUMIDITY I ROLL PAPER TOWELS IN THE WATER TRAYS AND THEN FILL THEM UP. MORE SURFACE AREA FOR THE WATER=HIGHER HUMIDITY.

I've heard good things about the Brinsea mini (I'm in the UK). I just had my first hatch in a Brinsea Octagon 20 advance and without hardly any fuss had 23 pekin bantams (cochin) hatch from 25 eggs!
