I'm new to the chicken hobby. I have a small flock that is just starting to lay. I would also like to hatch some eggs in my classroom. I'm looking for personal reviews on different brands of incubators. What brand do you use, good or bad testimonials, helpful hints, etc. There are so many different kinds of incubators with gadgets galore that it is a little overwhelming. I'm just looking for some recommendations and insight to make our hatching experience a happy one for my little kiddos. Thanks!

I'm pretty new also, there is already a lot of extensive info about incubators on BYC, if you search for the particular model you will get lots of threads that have the info you are looking for. I also googled the different incubators and many times the first hits were BYC threads.

It all depends on how much $ you have to spend, and how much time you are able to devote to keeping tabs on your bator. From what I can tell, the HovaBator Genesis is a good choice, because it's relatively affordable, comes with the air circulating fan, and you can set it to maintain a certain temp & humidity. I am currently running both an LG Still air, and a HovaBator forced air (not the Genesis), and while people have talked about having nightmare experiences with the LG, so far mine has been pretty stable, not any more or less stable than the HB. Pretty early yet to tell whether one or the other produces a better hatch, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Anyway if you sort through the info on BYC you should find some pretty thorough reviews on most of the bators out there. Good luck!
