Hello everyone. I have several ducks that I plan on collecting eggs to eat as well as incubate for science/learning projects for my 3 small boys (10,6,4). I have been looking at incubators and don't know a thing about them. We don't want to breed or sell a bunch so the bigger incubators are too big. I know their are also threads on here about incubators but I have a hard time navigating them. What is the best incubator for under $150 and why? Any that are duds? Also, we are super super busy right now so building our own isn't an option at this point? Thanks in advance!

I'd suggest making one if you can. Mine cost about 45--50 bucks and is as reliable or more than anything you can buy. Can give instructions if you want. Don't even need prior experience with wiring as long as you can watch videos.

Is it this one?

Spend $20 more and get a Genesis 1588 from Amazon. Or go on eBay, Stromberg's, Best Line and find one in your price range. They run from $130 on up if you shop around.

Good morning! :frow

As far as keeping it simple and affordable, I bought a Hova bator 1602N for about $63 on amazon. It doesn't have a fan or turner, but turning was part of the fun.

I have VERY limited experience, but GREAT hatches! :yesss:

Only thing I had to do was use some extra blankets to stabilize the temp and bring it up, because my house temp swings wildly and at 58 degrees couldn't get the incubator temp high enough even with the wafer turned to it's max. Making sure not to cover vent holes, it worked SOOOO good. I also do move the eggs around to another location in the incubator at least 1 time per day to combat any cool/hot spots from not having a fan. But it hasn't been an issue for me. :)

Happy hatching! :pop

X2 not only will it be cheaper but your boys can help. It’ll make them feel great that something they help build hatched babies!

Sure. Send me the videos and if it looks easy enough, I might wait until I have enough time to devote to it. My girls probably won't lay until spring so I have time.
