Best meat and egg laying birds

Hi, im new to chickens and i like the idea of doing cornish cross broilers but i would also like to know if there is a pure breed that u can rebreed to make your own meat birds

Any breed can be butchered for meat. The question is if the feed:meat ratio is efficient for that breed or not.

Some pure breeds that produce meat in a reasonable length of time include Rocks (White Rock probably the most popular color), Delaware, New Hampshire, even Rhode Island Red. Brahma and Cochins are very large breeds but they grow a bit more slowly. But honestly, you could pick any breed you want.
