The APA standard New Hampshires purchased from legimate breeders are normally quite docile and usually do very well in a mixed flock. Hatchery grade New Hampshires, like hatchery grade RIRs, are sometimes aggressive.

I personally prefer Welsummers to New Hampshires. I've had both, and I think my Welsummers were more docile. Also, I like the color of their chocolate eggs better. In my personal opinion, they are the prettiest eggs in the chicken world.
