Best Place(s) to buy Live Mealworms ?

the container is made of plastic...but to be sure i'll make a lid for it

how much ventilation will these beetles and meal worms need ? since the original lid of this container has two 1 in size hole for ventilation

maybe that is not enough ventilation ?

I have my colonies in plastic drawers about 2-3" deep and there are 6 drawers per storage unit. I have two units. The drawers don't have lids themselves as the beetles don't tend to want to crawl up the sides at all. Haven't had any escapees yet.

The beetles and pupae feed out just as well as the worms if you get more than you need, btw.

That you've noticed!

the mealworms can survive the AZ heat right?

i keep them away from direct sunlight but the heat can get to 110+ here

i don't see them anymore.. but a lot of dead skins on the surface of the wheat gran..

$5 for 100 mealworms.. plus some already dead out of the box..

guess i have to buy more..

Not totally sure. It's been about 75-95 here and they haven't had a probmlem... I think humidity may have a greater influence than temp. If it's a "dry heat" you may have to be sure to add more to their enclosure to keep them from dehydrating.

I do know that colder temps will slow their growth and reproductive cycles. I'm not sure what the upper limits are though.

Yup. Size of the beetle depends on size of the larvae depends on size of the worm. Although, If they're smaller now, they'll grow up, provided they don't roast first
