Looks like I'll be retiring my RIR/Production Red hens at the end of this year since they're 3 years old and starting to slow down on egg production. I've pretty well decided on Red Stars as a replacement but the local feed stores (east central Florida) are hit or miss on these. I'll probably have to do mail order and was wondering if anyone can recommend anyplace in particular. I only need 12-15. I know McMurray has them. Anyplace else you folks have ordered these from with good results?

Besides McMurray, offhand Cackle and e-fowl also carry what they call Red Stars. Cackle has the cheapest pullets right now. I don't know if they have the same egg source/ breeding or if they are just using the same name. McMurray/Cackle seemed the same, never gotten them from e-fowl

We are awaiting an order of Red Stars from MyPetChicken. We've never had them before--seems like they'll be a good breed! :)
