I have ordered a total of 45 chicks from Ideal and 100 chicks MPC, MPC is much better, they do small orders never add fillers and the sexing is pretty accurate (I got 3 roosters out of 100 chicks!)
I'm in NY and have ordered twice from MPC -one for 8 chicks, the other for 6. All arrived the very next morning after hatch and all were alive and peeping. Shipping is expensive, but it's nice to know they'll get here the next day! No fillers were added, just got what I ordered. One of my newer chicks might have some gender confusion
, but the first order of all pullets turned out to be all pullets.
I was considering ordering from MPC, and I would have, but I just could not get over the shipping charge. I ended up ordering from Ideal. I had to order a few more chicks than I initially wanted to meet their minimum, but I think I will be ok space wise. I will rehome a couple of them if necessary. I know I will have no problems finding a place for them if I need to, as I know a friend who could take a couple more in her coop right now. I ended up with more chicks for about half the price.
We'll see when they come, but I am happy with the process so far.
How about Randall Burkey Co. (the one advertised on the breeds homepage) They have a 5 chick special with all the stuff you need to get started. Looked like a convenient option just kinda pricy although the price did include shipping. Has anyone ordered that?
