I am going to have a pen that is 14'X30'... So 420 sq. ft. I've read that a duck requires a minimum 50 sq. ft for an outdoor pen...

So my question is, in that size of a pen with 8-9 ducks, what can I plant that will keep up with the ducks? My elevation is 4k ft and it gets cold here in Utah... Any suggestions?

Alright... Maybe I wasn't clear. I am going to be designing the doing the layout for this pen. I am wondering what bushes/shrubs would be best for wood ducks and madarins to perch in, and grasses for them to eat, but will keep up with them. And it'll be more like 4 or 5 ducks in 420 sq ft.

Any help would be ok... And pics would be even better!

Clover is good for ducks to munch on and it grows pretty quickly. I have some white clover growing in the lawn. The ducks eat it whenever they find it but it keeps coming back.
