Best rooster breed poll

They're a docile breed, both with the flock and with humans. As far as noise.... just normal chicken noises. The hens sing their egg song and the boys crow. I would recommend them to anyone, this includes either the bantam or standard size.

Is it true the oriental roosters are quieter than most other breeds?

Not as far as how often they crow, although they tend to go quiet when they are on eggs. But it is a short four syllable crow, deep, and isn't as annoying as most others.

I've had only about 4 or 5 roosters, (2 of which were not dominant and were given away at a young age). I had a white leghorn who was very protective of his females but yet only ever spurred someone if they kept attacking/bothering his hens after many warnings. The other was beautiful colorwise but spurred anybody and everybody. We eventually gave that one away. The leghorn died in a fight with what we believed to be a bird-of-prey, though it could've also been something else. Either way, he protected his hens to the last. So the leghorn was far better with his hens and people, dispite his plain coloring.
