Best Salmon Favorelle for breeding

The Salmon Faverolle pullets/hens should not have too much black or blue bleeding thru their feathers as much as Seminole's girls are. Zchickens are OK in color, not enough cream color on their chests but they are beautiful in type and beards are very full.

Seminole, your two off white or creme white Fav girls, they are pretty!!!! They look like snow owls!

Ewe Sheep, the white ones were supposed to be Salmon, but some recessive gene popped up. The salmon girl, Solanje, is so dark that at 2 weeks I took my chances with her being a female. She never really had any black on her, just a very very dark brown/gray. They're from a breeder in Texas, and I just love them to death.

If those whites came from Melissa, I'm going to have to buy some more hatching eggs from her. WOW

Those cockerals are not BQ at all I personally would start over with some new birds from a breeder. I have some bantam faverolles and I am starting to collect bloodlines and hopefully I will have a great flock by fall. I think that breeding is all about finding the best original stock.

Judging a bird at 7 weeks of age is much too early, especially when you are new to a breed and/or unfamiliar with the line you have. Give these birds time to mature before you put them out there for undue criticism.

Nikki, the original OP's Faverolles aren't that great of a quality. You can see that I am sure of it! However if you get your Faverolles from reputable breeders, YES, you do need to wait a little while before you decided to cull or breed them.

I agree 7 weeks is to early unless their are obvious big time DQ's like this birds have. Yellow legs wattles and no beard! I am sure they will become beautiful with age but they will never really be BQ with those flaws.

Improving beard, and leg feathering for that matter, is pretty easy on a Fav. Wouldn't you agree?

I guess so I don't have to do any improving because of your lovely birds

But I guess that you did alot of improving with them to begin with so I will take your word for it.
