My chicks should be old enough in a couple weeks for short trips outside. We live in Texas so our winters are mild IF we even get them. What are some suggestions for making outside trips less stressful? I want to slowly get them ready for the outdoors/their coop, but I also don't want to give them little heart attacks!

I just start with short trips in a small fenced in area. The first time or two they are a bit unsure, but they quickly get used to it.
Do you sit or stand in there with them? My chicks seem to be a little more at ease when I'm near by. Or do you recommend letting them build their confidence and doing it alone? 😆

I'm usually outside somewhere watching. It takes a little while until I feel comfortable getting further away. I have taken them outside as soon as 2-3 days old here if it's warm enough.

Success! We spent about an hour outside while I cleaned their brooder box. I kept my eye on them the whole time and they did great!
