Hello,

We're located in Ventura County, California, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get it out there that we've got chicks available for sale. We've been posting on Craigslist, and people have been driving from 2-3 hours away to buy our chicks. It seems like there are a lot of people interested, but they don't always know we exist. We've also been selling chicks that are a bit different from what the feed stores are offering, such as silkies or polish, etc.

This all kinda started because I wanted to spice up my flock a bit and couldn't easily find more of the "fancy" breeds locally. Now we're just building up some breeding pairs and hatching either through an incubator or broody hens. It's very unofficial at this point, but I am curious about regulations if we did actually start selling quite a bit.

I'm also looking for a few roosters to adopt, and am having a little trouble navigating the BYC forums to find them.

If anyone has advice on this subject, marketing towards our local area, size we need to be before we to start looking at regulations, best way to find specific breeds of roosters I can adopt, that would be great.

Thanks!
