Best winter feed for geese

Sunflower seeds are so good for the birds and what ever the bird it is always the first picked out of the food bowl.

Those sound like great suggestions. I'll definitely keep the planting in mind in the spring. Giant sunflowers should be a great crop--if I can keep the horses and goats away.

I was sure I would have some hurt birds but two managed to clear the fence and the rest bounced off the big tough gander. I had to go get the two that cleared the fence and lead them through the gate back to the yard. By the time I got back the geese had the iceskating figured out and were zipping all over the place and the ducks were in the pools. I left them out all day and went out to feed them early since I knew all that activity and no greens they would be hungry. No geese were injured but a few ducks that normally could out run the geese were missing some tail feathers!

I guess I'm lucky-they get left alone except occasionally a deer will eat the whole head.
