Hi, I have been here awhile but never really introduced myself. My name is Debbie and I started my flock last year with 4 laying hen. The reason I decided to keep chickens was not only for the eggs but also as a form of physical therapy. I have an auto immune disease and I'm immobile a lot of time. My chickens insure I push myself to remain active. Unfortunately , during flare ups I tend to be very direct and do not have the best judgment. The reason I included this information is to prevent future misunderstanding. I am a caring and compassionate person so if you see a post from me that seems otherwise please ask for clarification it's usually a difficulty I have finding the right words coupled with frustration.

I would also like to take this time to thank all the helpful supportive folks on BYC. My girls are happy and healthy as a result of your efforts. Thanks again, now back to hatching

Thank you! After posting this thread it made me realize how much my condition has improved in the last year and half. Reminder to count my blessings.

Welcome to BYC, Debbie. Glad you decided to join our flock. Raising chickens can be very therapeutic. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of chickens do you have?
