EE Adrienne and cochin Sylvia were best friends since chickhood, until Syvia grew into a lovely baby rooster and had to be traded in about a week ago.
Since then, she just cries and cries. My silkie and cochin cchicks (3wk and 1 wk) were too small to go in with her, it seemed, so she continued to be lonely. When I had to separate the silkie from the cochin--who's a runt--because she was growing too big I had a room full of crying chickens, despite the teddies I gave them.
When I found that the silkie had broken out of her brooder and into the teeny cochins, I decided to try making Adrienne (2+ months)
and Sylvia (part deux, 3-4 wks)
into roomies.
Cuteness ensued:
Adrienne sometimes pecks just the tip of her beak: poultry kisses!
